Go Back

Why study this course?

The day will give you a broad understanding of attachment behaviour in both children and adults and will cover some of the major research findings behind attachment theory and its application in clinical work with children and families.

What to expect:

This training event will look at the development of attachment behaviour in the baby and toddler and how this is influenced by the family emotional environment and parental responsiveness. The different categories of attachment and how these are measured will be explored, including how the child may be affected by childhood adversity within the family. This will cover the concept of internal working models and how these differ depending on experience. Adult attachment categories, and the pattern of relationships they associate with, are assessed in a different way from those of childhood and these will also be briefly considered.
