Spousal Assault Risk Assessment Guide (SARA V3)

Go Back

Intimate partner violence (IPV) is one of the most common forms of violence, it is often more frequent and more serious than other forms of violence. IPV can have profound psychological consequences for victims as well as physical consequences. The Spousal Assault Risk Assessment Guide, or SARA, was the first set of structured professional judgement (SPJ) guidelines for violence risk assessment. The SARA-V3, published in 2015, not only captures learning about the SPJ approach in general, but also, provides state-of-art guidelines based on the latest understanding of IPV. SARA is used widely by mental health, social work, prison and other professionals, and in many different countries.
