Working with Inequality, Poverty and Social Justice

Go Back

Counsellors can be big influencers and change agents with social policy in reducing discrimination and increasing the well-being of the disadvantaged. We can be social justice advocates because mental health therapy is often not enough to help our clients.

Counsellors have the ability to approach therapeutic work through the context of the client's world and use of a social justice lens is necessary in our diverse world, allowing counsellors to help people in underserved communities.

The conference focuses on the interdisciplinary perspectives of inequality, poverty and the effects on the changing face of healthcare, exploring the challenges and effects on social justice. It will provide practical guidance for improving skills and services by focusing on the wider policy agenda and opportunities for shaping the future of service provision.

Inequality, Poverty, and Social Justice affects us all and this event is important to all counsellors, especially those working in areas of high inequality and disadvantage.
