Facetime is a free Internet application that allows webcam type communications via Apple devices (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch, MacBook and Mac PCs) using an Internet/WiFi connection or mobile data. iMessage is the equivalent, but as an instant messaging app. Both applications come pre-loaded on the devices and only require setting up via an Apple ID (which will be familiar to Apple users).
